Arik Sandoval is a Photographer and Ceramic Artist, originally from the Four Corners area of Huerfano Mesa (Dzil Na'oodilii – Encircling Mountain), New Mexico and 2007 graduate from Piedra Vista High School. With the constant goal of becoming a photographer, in 2010 he was accepted to the Art Institute in Colorado, and then in 2011, Arik was awarded with photography scholarship by the Chair of Photography Department, David Scheinbaum, at Santa Fe University of Art and Design. In 2013, he discovered an interest in ceramics classes such as Ceramics-Pottery/Sculpture, Ceramics:Intermediate Sculpture, Intermediate/Advanced Ceramics with sculptor Susan York. In ceramics he had found a piece of his heart to accompany his Fervor for photography. Ceramics was not only a release of stress and pressure for Sandoval, but a way to concentrate ideas allowing them to flow through his hands and thus create something that is both delicate and telling.
